The Pennsylvania-Deutsch had a rich tradition of decorating things they used in their day-to-day life. In this video, John McGuire demonstrates how the tinsmith would have made a barn candle lantern in 19th-century Upper Canada and explains how the Pennsylvania-Deutsch decorated them. John has been a tinsmith all his life... he started his apprenticeship working on war planes during WWII.
This process will take the tinsmith about 8 hours from start to finish - a little long for a web video. So I cut it down and split it in two. Part II is on the next page. Click HERE to download Apple's free Quicktime Player if you can't see the video.
